New Decatur Restaurant Now Open!!
Decatur Square just got a brand new restaurant this week called The White Bull! Located right next to Brick Store Pub! The restaurant’s name was inspired by American novelist and lover of classic daiquiris Ernest Hemingway who often referred to the blank page as “the white bull”. The name of the 75-seat restaurant and bar seems to have also inspired the interior design, which will focus on the use of natural light and a clean, neutral color palette.
The menu consists of approximately 16 dishes with four of those dedicated to pasta made from flour milled at the restaurant. Dishes include Sapelo Island clams with pig tails, kohlrabi, celery, lemon, and toast, mafalde (pasta) with cured pork, and baby carrots with muhammara (roasted red pepper dip), Greek yogurt, za’atar, and chicken skin.
For those wondering if Hemingway’s favorite cocktails made their way onto the beverage menu, the answer is ‘yes’. The list includes a frozen martini with vodka, vermouth, and orange bitters and a riff on the Hemingway daiquiri aptly named “The Importance of Being Ernest” with blonde rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, cane syrup, and Peychaud’s bitters. The novelist is said to have created his daiquiri variation because he preferred no sugar but twice the rum. Others speculate the drink was concocted in order for Hemingway (a known diabetic) to avoid sugar.
Sounds FANTASTIC to us!! See all of you there!!
